Foaming Hand Soap Dispenser

I like to use a 16 oz regular mouth mason jar for my hand soap and I found these awesome foaming pump lids on Amazon that work great! I added this silicone sleeve to mine because I have three small children that are a little rough on things and I didn’t want to risk it getting broken.
Soap
Liquid castile soap is great for so many things. It is natural, biodegradable, and toxin free, which makes it a great base for this DIY foaming hand soap. I love the Dr. Bronner’s liquid castile soap, but I have also used other brands like the generic Sprout’s brand (in the pictures). I prefer to use the baby unscented for most things, but you really can use any scent you want for the foaming hand soap.

Glycerin
Vegetable glycerin is derived from natural fats found in vegetable oils. It is a great moisturizer and cleanser which makes it a great addition to this foaming hand soap. It also has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties which can be great for people with dry skin or eczema. I really like this vegetable glycerin made from coconut as apposed to the palm derived glycerin, but you can use whatever you like best.

Vitamin E
I really like to add a little vitamin E or Jojoba oil to this foaming hand soap because of the healing properties. My skin gets so damaged from working in the kitchen, washing my hands and the dishes all the time. These help to moisturize, heal wounds and repair damaged skin. I have also used Aloe Vera which is another great option.

Essential Oils
This is the fun part! You can add any kind of essential you want to. I like to use Thieves blend because of the awesome antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. It also smells great! Some other great options are any of the citrus oils or peppermint. I also like to use Christmas Spirit blend and Winter Nights blend during the holiday season. I have mentioned in other posts that I prefer to use only Young Living brand essential oils and you can read more about that here.

Notes
* I love the mason jars as soap dispensers, but you can use any foaming hand soap dispenser. If it is smaller than 16oz, you may just want to make a smaller batch or mix it in a mason jar or 2 cup measuring cup before pouring into your dispenser. Then save whatever is leftover.
* The silicone mason jar sleeve is also optional. I just wanted the added anti-breakage protection because of the small children that live in my house!
* The Vitamin E or Jojoba oils are not absolutely integral to this recipe, but are highly recommended! If you don't have any, you can also use a little fractionated coconut oil or some good quality aloe vera gel.
* I love using Young Living Thieves essential oil blend in this recipe, but you can use any oils you would like or whatever you have on hand. Lavender is a great option, especially for sensitive skin. Citrus oils smell great! I really like to use Christmas Spirit or Winter Nights for the holiday season too.
